Soaked with Sun, Seafood & Sipping

SAINT EMILLION & CAP FERRET - Bordeaux, FRANCE

When visiting France you don’t want to stick to Paris. Yes, it lives up to its title of the ‘City of Love’, but there is so much more to France. For amazing wine, gorgeous countryside, and some of the most famous wineries in the world, I recommend exploring the Bordeaux region.

In Bordeaux itself, you can hire a free bike to visit all the monuments and the old city centre, or stop for shopping at Quai des Marques. There are also wine bars where you can enjoy beautiful wines perfectly matched with cured meats, cheese platters and other French delights.

Plan a journey to Saint Emilion, this old village is full of beauty. Have lunch in the sun at a terrace and then amble through the small alleys. On your way back, stop for tastings at Chateau Yquem (for white wine lovers) and Chateau Pavie (for red wine enthusiasts).

If you have the unfortunate luck of being in one of the world’s favourite wine regions and not enjoying wine, kick back and relax by the water at Cap Ferret in Bassin d’Arcachon. You can soak up rays at the beaches, stop by the market, or learn about local culture in the city centre while enjoying an ice cream. End the day in the fishermen neighbourhood and experience local seafood with amazing views courtesy of Chez Boulan.
