YANERBIE BEACH - Streaky Bay, SOUTH AUSTRALIA
Sometimes the best places to holiday are just beyond your own backyard. Streaky Bay is only an 8 hour drive from Adelaide, although you can also jump on a short flight to Ceduna which is just an hour up the road from the bay.
There are many places to stay locally, but it’s hard to go past the Streaky Bay Foreshore Tourist Park. There aren’t many caravan parks that open right onto the beach! If you have a 4WD, head out to Yanerbie beach at Sceale Bay and go for a play in the Yanerbie sand dunes. Cast a fishing line to catch some fresh Whiting, or just enjoy the vast white sandy beach and clear water.
For something a little more exclusive, follow the coastline east. You’ll come across some hidden gems, seemingly untouched by anyone. This is the perfect place to reconnect to nature with the kids. Stop by Evans Oysters up the hill on Woodlawn Rd, have a chat to Paul for some local beach secrets, and pick yourself up a dozen fresh oysters. Grab some hot fish and chips from the local takeaway, and enjoy a fresh seafood feast on the grass foreshore watching the sunset.
